Orphan Homes in Zimbabwe, Africa

In 2008 CMN partnered with Hands of Hope and the Highfield Church of the Nazarene in Zimbabwe Africa to build an orphan village where orphaned Zimbabweans live, go to school, worship their Savior, and learn skills to prepare them for life.

  • The orphan village consists of hundreds of acres, has three homes where our children live, a home for our farm manager that oversees the cattle, chicken, and agriculture operations.
  • There is a school where our children and other children in the local area attend.
  • The Nazarene church from Highfield also has a service on the farm each Sunday.
  • The children live in family settings instead of institutionalized buildings.

The first country to which God lead CMN is Zimbabwe. Members of CMN flew to Harare, Zimbabwe in September 2006 to discern how to implement our mission. We traveled extensively around the country touring existing children’s homes during our visit.

We subsequently learned that poverty has ravaged the once breadbasket of Southern Africa along with the HIV AIDS epidemic that has even struck a family member of a CMN board member. The economy has completely collapsed and inflation is going up daily and basic commodities such as bread, cooking oil or automobile fuels are scarce. The situation has resulted in countless children being without parents and/or homeless. Some children were fortunate to be able to live with extended family. A significant number of children are left to roam the streets. In all these scenarios, the kids are not going to school because inflation has pushed prices beyond most people’s reach. Education is not free and children are required to be in uniform and pay tuition and fees. All these requirements must be fulfilled or you simply will not get an education. Families that can afford it will send one male son, or grandson to school and most girls are not even given a chance.

With this background CMN has begun building an orphan’s village called Goshen Farm on the outskirts of Harare. Our model is traditional style residences to eventually house about 150 children. Each home is closely supervised by a trained house mom and nanny to serve as a parental figure and a spiritual leader to the children. The kids will attend a school onsite.

After school activities include carpentry, welding, sewing/knitting, gardening, and care-taking of chicken, pigs, and cattle to develop their trade skills. Certain evenings are devoted to fellowship and spiritual leadership.

There are wonderful things happening at Goshen. Since the original project began, chicken houses have been built where a fantastic egg and chicken operation has commenced which helps supplement the children’s homes at the farm.  More chicken houses are under way with the hope to build around 20 chicken houses which will produce enough income to provide for around 10 children’s homes at the farm.

After originally attending a local school, the children now have a school at the farm that is busting at the seams.  We are utilizing every available space we have for them and started building more class rooms and desire a new facility that will be the size of a basketball court and serve as the new school during the week, the church on Sundays, and provide a place for children to play during the rainy season.

As you can imagine, we are in great need for any financial support as the economy has suffered here in the states, so has the giving. Please keep CMN in your prayers as we continue to cherish His little ones and seek to do His will in providing for these beautiful children.

We need your help to build homes for the children of Zimbabwe

Veterans’ Homes in Waco, Texas

In 2016 CMN engaged the Veterans One Stop in Waco, Texas, home of Brenner and Felix, and have since partnered together to build the very first Veterans Transition Home in Waco where veteran families with children can live while the veteran and the family receive services that will help them transition from military life back to civilian life.

  • The family can use the home up to nine months. They must maintain services with veterans one stop for the duration.
  • The house is three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is maintained by the volunteers of the veterans one stop.
  • It was named in honor of Chaplain Robert Carter.

CMN has partnered with Stylcraft Builders to build a Veteran’s Transition Home (VTH) for the folks at Veteran’s One Stop (VOS) to utilize for families of veterans who are making the transition from the military to civilian life in Waco, TX. It is always Children’s Mission Network’s aim to love on children and share the good news of Christ with them, and their families. Over the last four years, Brenner has served as a Chaplain on Active Duty in the Air Force and worked with military members from all branches from the USA to Afghanistan. His great appreciation for the men and women who have served and paid very heavy prices led him to the desire to develop the VTH. Construction began on the home in July of 2017 and was completed in December of 2017 and is now open for veteran families who will utilize the services of the VOS. The house is being built to host a military member who may be wheelchair bound. If you are interested in supporting this effort, please feel free to donate to CMN and know your donation will go directly to support the children of veterans and their families.

May God bless the men and women who selflessly serve our nation to ensure the freedoms we all enjoy every day.
